Did You Ever Encounter Satanists?

When I played in secular bands, we often came across
professing satanists—and many other belief systems as well (e.g., skinheads for
instance). They would end up at some shows to which I was playing—sometimes with multiple
bands on the docket.
Most satanists that I met, however, were the atheistic form
(i.e., Church of Satan) but on a rare occasion I did meet couple of them who
were theistic satanists (they did believe Satan existed and held him as a “god-like”
figure). You can usually tell by brief comments or attire (Church of Satan or hail
Satan comments, etc.). It’s was the theistic form that are tougher to spot
and it take a few minutes to decipher where they stand.
Did they know I was a Christian? I’m not sure. Our brief
encounters were met with little time and basic pleasantries and very short conversations.
I never hid my Christianity, but this didn’t mean I had extensive opportunities
to have some deep discussions with people that brush across my path.
In fact, what little discussions I had were usually met with
kindness and intrigue though. A lot of people simply have a bad understanding
of who God is or they judge God based on the fallible actions of sinful
Christians they have encountered.
This is a reminder for Christians to be to be Christlike in
all circumstances because you don’t know who’s watching or listening. Blessings
in Christ,
